As with most parish churchyards, people need to be church members or to have lived in Langdale to qualify for burial in Thrang Cemetery. As regards interment of ashes however, there is an area of the churchyard where people who have had a personal attachment to the valley whether through walking or holidaying here for many years may apply to the Vicar for permission to be interred.

Funeral fees can be found on the Church of England website.

While funerals and interments are never easy occasions, people derive comfort from the setting. The cemetery is well maintained and has a lovely view over Lingmoor and up Great Langdale valley.

A favourite Psalm to accompany a funeral or interment in the valley has always been Psalm 121: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills. From whence cometh my help? My help cometh even from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
